  • What can I expect with this service?
Ready- We come directly to your door with our climate-controlled van, pup-powered treadmills, and enthusiastic pup fitness coach. We will fit your dog into a padded & breathable harness designed for comfort and better balance. Because the harness directs the center of gravity over your pup's shoulders, there is no pressure on their neck or throat. Run- We will introduce your pup to the van and acclimate them to the treadmills at their pace. We focus on ensuring your pup feels secure and confident during their session. They enjoy a safe 30-minute exercise, filled with toys, encouragement, water breaks, and treats (if weight is not a concern), at their preferred pace, out of the elements, and on your schedule. Relax- Aerobic exercise promotes relaxation and feelings of calm. Our treadmills are set at a slight incline- so even those slower paced sessions are providing a great workout.
  • How does a pup-powered treadmill work?
Our pup-powered treadmills are safe, secure, and UNPLUGGED. It's not just our tagline for fun- Your dog really is the power, and they set the pace. The treadmills have no motors, utilize no electricity, are low-resistance and low impact, and move at the speed your dog designates. There is no weight limit or size minimum. When they move, it moves. When they slow, it slows. When they stop, it stops.
  • How frequently do you clean the equipment?
Here at Jog Pup we take health and wellness very seriously. Current rabies vaccination records are required for every client and we pride ourselves in disinfecting the treadmills between each run session. Unlike dog parks or neighborhood walks, with Jog Pup your dog won't ever come into contact with an unvaccinated dog or happen upon excrement of an unknown animal source. We take every precaution to ensure our mobile dog gym is clean, safe, and secure for your pup.
  • How quickly will my dog become confident on the treadmill?
Each dog is different, and we are patient and encouraging while introducing the treadmill. It’s our goal to keep them comfortable and have them enjoy the experience. We take the first sessions very slow and fill the time with positivity. Just like with our treadmills, your dog sets the pace. While your pup is becoming acclimated to the treadmill and growing confidence in their movement, they are receiving a great mental workout. Generally they begin with a slow walk and will pick up the pace from there. As they progress in their 30 minute sessions, they may power walk, trot, sprint, or be off to the races! Our patient and enthusiastic pup fitness coach knows your dog is the power, and they set the pace!
  • How fast will my dog run?
Every pup is different, and they set their own pace with Jog Pup. The average walking speed of a dog is 6mph, their running pace is around 20mph, and they can keep going up to around 45mph! Compare that to the average walking speed for a human at 3 mph, our running pace is around 7mph, and we top out at 18mph. Even our “slower paced” pups comfortably walk at a human's average jogging speed. So whether your pup walks, trots, or puts the pedal to the metal, with Jog Pup they're getting a great 30 minute workout that allows them to set their own pace and enjoy the freedom of movement- out of the Florida elements and under the hum of cool AC!
  • How do I prepare my dog for their session?
It is important that feedings and heavy waterings be completed at least two hours before any exercise to prevent Bloat (or GVD) in dogs. Prior to their session, your dog may benefit from a quick potty break.
  • Can I watch my pup in action?
Jog Pup is unable to have anyone in the van during a session that is uninsured. But, with over 25 years in dog pack experience, we will always treat your dog with respect and like one of our own. And we provide you with photos and videos of each session so you wont miss a thing! Also, though our van is climate-controlled, once your pup has a handle on the process, we are able to leave the door open for a short time so you can view them in real time!
  • Do I need to be home for each session?
Once your dog is confident with the sessions, we can arrange access so you do not have to be home during future appointments.
